gmail.com and googlemail.com are treated as different accounts

If your subscription or files appear missing, it may be because gmail.com and googlemail.com are treated as separate email addresses in Linearity. Here's how to identify and fix the mismatch.

Gmail addresses work at both @gmail.com and @googlemail.com — they deliver to the same inbox. However, Linearity treats these as two separate email addresses, which can cause your subscription or files to appear missing when you sign in.

Why this happens

When you signed up or made a purchase, you may have used one version of your address (for example, [email protected]) but are now signed in with the other ([email protected]). Because Linearity matches accounts and subscriptions by exact email address, these are seen as two different accounts.

How to check which email is on your account

  1. Open Linearity and go to the Profile tab
  2. The email shown there is the one your account is linked to

Compare it to the email on your subscription receipt. If they differ only by gmail.com vs googlemail.com, that's the cause.

How to fix it

Option 1: Sign in with the email that matches your subscription

Sign out of Linearity and sign back in using the exact email from your receipt.

Option 2: Contact support to relink

If you'd prefer to keep your current login email, contact our support team. Include:

  • The email currently shown in your Profile tab
  • The email on your subscription receipt or invoice

We can relink the subscription to your preferred email address.
